Questions

Do I need to book?

For ordinary trains you can buy on the day, but special trains (the dinner train, the gala) sell out weeks ahead, so book those online.

What if it rains?

The trains run in all weathers; the coaches are covered and the buffet car is warm. We only cancel for high winds on the viaduct, and refund everyone.

Can I get off and catch a later train?

Yes, on any journey except the dinner train. Your ticket is valid for the return on any train the same day.

Can we see the engine up close?

Come twenty minutes before departure and the crew will show you the footplate at Millbrook, as long as there's no queue for coal.
